Audley End Fairy Walk and Miniature Railway London

Easter Sunday we spent a gorgeous afternoon at Audley End Fairy Walk and Miniature Railway. About 1.5 hour drive from Kensington, we timed with an early lunch and a car afternoon nap for our toddler – afterall this is one of the few Miniature railway London, so well worth for enthusiatic young kids. Got there 2:40pm for a train ride booked for 3pm. The Essex landscapes around are gorgeous and the venue very cute. Parking, ticket collection and train boarding went  so smooth ! Also very lucky timing, our train slot timed perfectly with sun coming out – could not get better for a week-end featuring storm Katie !

The woods are beautiful and fairytale like, with surprises coming along the train ride every other minute. Our toddler was ecstatic about the carriages, the steam engine, the bridge, the tunnels, all the animals showing up – it is after-all an enchanted forest and ride.

I loved the station with the Easter Bunny and his friends, the music, energy, dancing of the chicks and the toddler was over the moon. The Easter bunny handing chocolate eggs to all kids in the carriages also lovely, we hugged him, cuddled and took pictures.

More tunnels, another bridge and another train were the very happy ending of a delightful 30 minutes ride. As soon as we stepped out of the train we also spotted the mini mini train, of course we had to give it a go, the personnel very chatty and friendly. Playground, more sheep, lambs and Easter bunny thereafter and making our way out 5pm, wished we started earlier and stayed longer. There are also Easter trails along Audley End Fairy Walk and craft making activities to mention just the few, so a full day would be great.

Audley End House is also next door – a stunning English Heritage property, in case the grown ups wish to mix and match the train rides, fairytales and playground with Jacobean mansion house, stable yard and gardens.
