Travelling with a baby

Ibiza with kids and 5 days birthday celebrations

It has been over 12 years since I fell in love with Ibiza: my favourite party by the beach getaway, the happiest and most therapeutic vibes in its chic beach clubs and bolt holes. Over the years I have stayed by Ses Figueretes beach, the old city and Playa d’en Bossa.

This time with little people and very close friends, we decided for a luxurious villa with heated swimming pool, rooftop with sunset and seaview, barbecue and many chilling hideaway areas. Calla Tarida was nearby, with its crystal clean waters and lots of chiringuitos on the beach.

This getaway we also had some different celebrations and for the occasion we flew our nanny. It proved to be a win all equation for all of us, kids enjoying the beach and beach clubs until bedtime, our nanny friend coming out with us, enjoying and taking them once ready back to the villa, us soaking in sunsets and enjoying late drinks, dinner and clubs, kids waking up the usual 8am with our nanny friend looking after them for breakfast and morning swimming, us sleeping in until 11am on regular basis – unheard of in the last 4 years!

Very Zen and therapeutic, allowing time with friends and out, of course tad more expensive overall but definitely worth it! 5 days of pure bliss, perfect 22-25 degrees during the day, bit colder during the night.

As usual our favourites have been Blue Marlin and Pacha. To my surprise the kids loved Blue Marlin to bits: the set up, the Dj, the food, the pebbles beach and the surfers, the beds and the vibes.

They jumped around, spent time on the champagne sofas, danced on Dj , feasted on sushi, edamame beans and fries. Bit difficult to take them back to the villa when you see them having such a fantastic time, but by sunset and 8:30 we decided it was grown up time.

Pacha we had the usual dinner by 11:30pm, great sushi and ceviche and good wine rather than paying the usual entrance. No kids this time around, all tucked in bed by then. Anna Tur and Denniz Cruz main Djs for the night, 3 of us loved them, the other 3 less so. That’s how the birthday celebrations started and needless to say, they were fabulous.

Next day we carried on Calle Tarida during the day the beach chiringuitos, sangria and beers to mention just a few liquids to hydrate the tired feet.

For dinner we headed early with the kids at the fashionable Cotton Beach Club – gorgeous views, more sushi and tapas with a contemporary twist.

The service was okish, set up is beautiful but less exploring friendly for little people.

The baby walked around fashionable outfits, furniture and books a good half an hour, after which we called it cocktail time and moved to Cotton Beach Club beds to soak in the sunset, chillout music and more cocktails.

We also had a short trip to Cafe del Mar for sunset, to be fair not really worth the trip to San Antonio even for memory’s sake and their tunes.

Last night after a gorgeous sunset on the roof terrace, we headed to the Old City and feasted on Medieval vibes and Spanish food until little hours of the morning – authentic restaurant with the loveliest hosts, Can d’en Parra.

A gorgeous holidays, with all 9 of us reluctant to leave and head back to 50 shades of grey aka London!

This post is exactly what I’ve been looking for! We’re headed to Ibiza with our 21 month old in August, and I’ve been wondering if its family friendly. My impression is clubs and hyper vibes, but it seems not. I’m surprised you can hang out in Pacha and other places with the wee ones!! Any recommendations for must-dos? #mondayescapes

Hi Shelley! Glad the article helps! Ibiza is also very glitzy and clubby but most beach bars are quite kids friendly. Which part are you staying? On your must do list I would put Blue Marlin for lunch or a beach day – book your beds as early as you can in advance. Calle Tarida has a gorgeous wide family beach with lots of chiringuitos – sunset and dinner at Cotton Club are gorgeous. The old city is also a must, I’d say afternoon stroll and early dinner. My friends who also visited recently with a toddler in tow also really liked Amante and Jockey Club. Enjoy!

Oh it has been a long time since I went to Ibiza. You sounds a little different to my earlier trips and yours, such a shame Cafe del Mar wasn’t worth the trip back! Thanks for linking up to #MondayEscapes

Hi Jenny and thanks for stopping by! Doable and enjoyable with kids, as usual it’s a story of support & facilities/ moneys that you are willing to throw at. So definitely bring nanny or maybe grandparents for a long week-end? 😉 Greetings from London, loved your London – Zambia – Hong Kong – Prague story!
