Ibiza with toddlers and kids- family guide to Ibiza
It has been over 15 years since I fell in love with Ibiza: my favourite European party island, the happiest and most therapeutic of Balearics with chic beach clubs, gourmet restaurant and fun bolt holes. Over the years, we stayed by Ses Figueretes, countryside Cala Llonga, the old city, Playa d’en Bossa, Talamanca. We explored so many of best beach bars Ibiza,seaside restaurants and crystal clear seas, but is Ibiza with toddlers or kids a feasible and enjoyable? Absolutely, and here are our highlights and tips for a family guide to Ibiza.
May in Ibiza with kids was fabulous at a luxury villa with heated swimming pool, rooftop with sunset and seaview, barbecue and many chilling hideaway areas. Cala Tarida as a base turned out ideal with its crystal clean waters, waves to jump and areas to swim plus lots of chiringuitos by the beach.
Ibiza in May came with plenty of celebrations and for the occasion we flew our nanny: a win all equation for all of us, kids enjoying the beach and beach clubs with us all until bedtime; our nanny friend enjoying equally the outings and taking them once ready back to the villa; us soaking in sunsets and enjoying late drinks, dinner and clubs; kids waking up the usual 8am with our nanny friend looking after them for breakfast and morning swimming; us sleeping in until 11am on regular basis – unheard of in the last 4 years!
Very Zen and therapeutic, allowing time with friends and out, of course tad more expensive overall but definitely worth it! 5 days of pure bliss, Ibiza in May at 22-25 C degrees during the day, bit colder but still very pleasant at night.
As usual our favourites have been Blue Marlin and Pacha. And to my surprise the kids loved Blue Marlin to bits: the set up, the Dj, the sushi, the pebbles beach and the surfers, the beds and the vibes.
They jumped around, spent time on the champagne sofas, danced on Dj, feasted on sushi, edamame beans and fries. Bit difficult to take them back to the villa when you see them having such a fantastic time, but by sunset and 8:30pm we decided it was grown up time.
Pacha we had dinner by 11:30pm as usual, great sushi and ceviche and fab wine (instead of paying the usual entrance). No kids this time around, all tucked in bed by then. Anna Tur and Denniz Cruz main Djs for the night, 3 of us loved them, the other 3 less so. That’s how the birthday celebrations started and needless to say, they were fabulous.
Next day we carried on the celebrations by Cala Tarida chiringuitos, sangria and beers to hydrate and help with the tired feet.
For dinner we headed early at the fashionable Cotton Beach Club (one of the best beach bars Ibiza on Cala Tarida with kids): gorgeous views, more sushi and tapas with a contemporary twist.
The service was great, set up is beautiful but one needs to keep the toddler close given the stairs and arty Cotton Beach objects.
The baby walked around fashionable outfits, furniture and books a good half an hour, after which we called it cocktail time and moved to Cotton Beach Club beds to soak in the sunset, chillout music and more cocktails.
We also had a short trip to Cafe del Mar for sunset for the sake of good old times, but we would not necesarily put San Antonio on a 5 days itinerary or family guide to Ibiza (just for the nostalgic souls remembering crazy sunsets and crowds clapping and singing).
Last night after a gorgeous sunset on the roof terrace, we headed to the Old City and feasted on Medieval vibes and Spanish food until little hours of the morning – authentic restaurant with the loveliest hosts, Can d’en Parra.

Travelling to Ibiza during the pandemic (September 2021 & May 2022). Being fully vaccinated and travelling from UK to Ibiza was easy September 2021, just a couple of extra forms and tests. For coming back to London, one had just to have a negative test prior to flying and the Locator form. The travelling guidance has been fluid though, always best to check the latest UK Foreign travel advice. Dissapointingly though in September 2021, whilst London, Madrid , Barcelona and Mykonos were back to partying on beach clubs and outside area, in Ibiza dancing was still not allowed! Luckily in May 2022 we have returned and thrilled we got our party island back: Pacha, Hi, Blue Marlin and CBBC were all glorious and buzzing !

This post is exactly what I’ve been looking for! We’re headed to Ibiza with our 21 month old in August, and I’ve been wondering if its family friendly. My impression is clubs and hyper vibes, but it seems not. I’m surprised you can hang out in Pacha and other places with the wee ones!! Any recommendations for must-dos? #mondayescapes
Hi Shelley! Glad the article helps! Ibiza is also very glitzy and clubby but most beach bars are quite kids friendly. Which part are you staying? On your must do list I would put Blue Marlin for lunch or a beach day – book your beds as early as you can in advance. Calle Tarida has a gorgeous wide family beach with lots of chiringuitos – sunset and dinner at Cotton Club are gorgeous. The old city is also a must, I’d say afternoon stroll and early dinner. My friends who also visited recently with a toddler in tow also really liked Amante and Jockey Club. Enjoy!
