River and Rowing Museum, Henley on Thames. Kids mayhem and mischief with Peter Rabbit

We’ve been twice in the last year and a half to River and Rowing Museum in picturesque Henley-on-Thames and it is again on our list to go back!

River and rowing museum

The permanent collection is delightful and very educational – the topics you may have guessed from the name include Thames, rowing and its history, the town of Henley-on-Thames and the Wind in the Willows. All familiar to the 3 out 4 of us and nonetheless great.

This summer the families visiting are in for an additional treat, as Peter Rabbit and his friends take over River and Rowing Museum. There’s Mayhem and Mischief on 3 levels, including an outside charming Garden of Mr McGregor.

Mayhem and Mischief

On the first floor of the museum, our kids helped Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle hang up the laundry, ironed and tidy up. Both our 15 months old and the 3 years visited Mrs. Rabbit in her burrow!  Children can dress up as Peter, curl up with a book in the story corner or plant carrots in Mr. McGregor’s garden.

Our only regret is that on both ocassions we’ve been, we had no luck with the weather. Especially for the beginning of summer school holidays we had certain expectations – but hey! we will have to go back to explore the outside trail and venture into Mr McGregor’s Garden for sand and water play.

To further unleash kids creativity and play, RRM Family Fridays include a play picnic, bunny craft, dressing up and face painting (£2 p/child) 21 July – 25 Aug.

Peter Rabbit Henley: a great adventure for kids

And on the picnic topic, our lunches at their Cafe have been yum on both occasions! Similarly though, craving for sun to properly enjoy their lovely deck terrace or overlooking the river.

Fingers crossed for the weather and merry hopping all!

Disclosure: Many thanks to the River and Rowing Museum for complimentary press passes. Photos & mischief mostly our own.

Shame about the weather, a stroll along the river at Henley is lovely. Hopping around with Peter Rabbit and friends looks to have more than made up for it though. Thank you for linking up to #CulturedKids

Oh dear, you did have bad luck with the weather! This looks like a fun place to hang out on a rainy afternoon, though. Thanks for linking up with #CulturedKids

Looks a great place to visit with lots of things to keep you busy. Sounds like rotten weather on the day you visited. I’d love to have seen the adventure trail and Mr McGregor’s Garden.
