Valentines with kids? Well, why not! These are our suggestions for romantic breaks with hot tub in Portugal, Italy and UK – fitting family adventures into romantic getaways.
If you are like us, with lovely grandparents but not physically fit to run hours after 2 energetic cheeky monkeys, for Valentines with kids and a proper romantic getaway we recommend hotels with good childcare.
Romantic evening kids tucked in bed Martinhal Cascais
Our favourite ones for Valentines escapes within 4 /5 hours of London are Martinhal in Portugal – romantic and unbeatable in terms of luxury, pampering and kids activities.
Cascais is a seaside gem loved by all sorts of royalties and Sintra a fairytale town Unesco patrimony.
With kids looked after so well at Martinhal Cascais, you can attempt Michelin star restaurants by sunset and fun packed days for the whole family. For Valentines retreats couples and couples with kids in Cascais have a look in here: Martinhal has it all covered – exquisite dinner, zen spa and even a mini club disco!
Or if one fancies a different Portuguese setting, between the sea and a Natural Park, one can retreat and reconnect in the poetic atmosphere of Martinhal Sagres: stunning views, including sunset over Cape. St.Vincent.
Located between Genoa and Portofino on the Italian Eastern Riviera, Camogli is a charming medieval fishing village. Artists, poets, writers and painters fell in love with over the decades. Come Valentines, the fishing nets that line the harbour wall are covered with little red hearts upon which people can write the name of their Valentine, and those which withstand the weather of the sea are said to be truly everlasting love. Camogli’s ‘Lover’s Market’ takes place along the pretty promenade and is filled with treats, culinary delights, jewellery and trinkets. But love is celebrated in Camogli also gastronomically and artistically – couples menu come this year with a souvenir plate designed by local artist Maria Teresa Di Micco.
We have been twice to Camogli with our Italian friends who are from Milan and spend time there annually for over 30 years. Our Italian friends love the focaccia and the village vibes that survived over the years. Their kids love the beach with pebbles and the gelatos.
We also have English friends who discovered this little Ligurian gem and spent 3G holidays aka, mom with kids stayed in an apartment and grandparents stayed at Cenobio de Doji hotel. All parties loved it and also going back again this year; the hotel is very child friendly, lovely salt water pool and access to their private beach.
Calcot Manor is a Uk favourite of ours romantic proposition, just over 3 hours drive from London in the hilly therapeutic landscapes of Cotswolds. We’ve been with an excited toddler to celebrate my birthday – it makes a gorgeous couple escape with the kids well looked after at the Club.
Valentines getaway Calcot Manor
Or if you fancy a Cornish retreat with a gorgeous hot tub and gentler on the budget, look no further than Kilminorth Cottages.
Each afternoon after a long adventurous day, we’d dip into our hot tub at Kilminorth Cottages, with a glass of wine, my eldest with his boat, soaking in the green landscapes and blooming trees.
For more about our fabulous romantic breaks with hot tub with Kilminorth Cottages, far from the urban crowds and madness, recharging into the rural stunning Cornwall – head to our dedicated article in here.
Valentines may be a cliché and one may not stick to February 14th to celebrate with romantic breaks with hot tub. One does not have to be Esther Perel or Alain de Botton to figure out that grown up time is utterly important for healthy happy dynamics. And kids can be also brought along on romantic trips should you go to the right places!
Where will you celebrate with your partner next?
