Ski with toddler ? Tips for ski holidays with kids

We have a long tradition of tropical getaways in festive December, but given extensive and regular inquiries about snow, we are constantly on the lookout for great ski holidays with kids. Ski with toddler? Our take is that is totally feasible and fun if done with the right company or childcare around, skiing toddler from 2 years old, baby or simply older child in a good kidsclub or creche.

Why with childcare one may naively ask? Well, as otherwise it’s not quite a skiing holiday for the parents! We usually aim to be on the slopes 9:30ish, grab a gourmet lunch by 13:30 and wrap it up with some après skiing 3-4:30. So unless the kids are sorted between 9-5pm, ski classes, lunch and snow fun included, we won’t be able to fit our ski routine in !

(i) We started our tradition of ski with toddler in Chamonix with grandparents around and found it’s truly too complicated for them to entertain too many hours in the snow our energetic offsprings. And that our skiing hours ended up in very late mornings and not enough après skiing. Otherwise though great for all parties!

(ii) The year after, we reconsidered again the tones of options for ski with toddler and baby, and we gave Esprit Ski Team a try!

We spent a wonderful week in January in Tignes and Val d’Isere and it worked out to perfection. Our kiddies felt in love with Esprit staff and the other kids at the chalet, skiing, the mountains and snow fun – could not have had a better first snow holiday in 4!

In Tignes and around we also indulged extensively the Michelin star cuisine : La Fruitiere and Maison Bouvier Panoramic on slopes, la Table Val Claret in the evening and of course spent our afternoons at Folie Douce !

We’ve met the Esprit ski team in October 2018 at a glam and fun night out as they have a new partner in crime : Smallfoot, who promised even more fun for the kiddies: yetis coming to life at Esprit ski chalets and kidsclubs. The music and animation are fab, lots of familiar names like Danny DeVito and Zendaya, warmly recommending for the winter season .

(iii) Last year we also tested Courchevel 1650 for Christmas, ESF for the kids, the wonderful Fahrenheit 7 new suites and ESF creche for the non skiing toddler. We raved about it extensively in here, it’s perfect for a bespoke holiday tuned to perfection to your likings.  The non skiing toddler adored the daily creche, difficult to take him even at 17:30! The 5 years old little skier also adored ESF and even more he loved spending the afternoons with us skiing and après skiing!
