London in December with #Culturedkids #52

London in December with kids (or without!) spoils us with so many shows, exhibitions and immersive experiences ! #CulturedKids constantly rave about the joy of giving art and cultural experiences. So much better than toys, plus therapeutical for young and grown ups alike!

December 6th is here and pretty much whole Europe celebrates St Nicholas. I spent my childhood polishing and ranging my shoes pretty in the evening of December 5th, so that St Nicholas fills them with oranges, chocolate coins, gingerbread and winter scarves. The tradition is very much alive in our London house and with our kids, it is the perfect opportunity to gift them exciting trips and outings.

This year we are superlucky to be invited to Gingerbread City press opening at Somerset House, how topical and festive!

And also very excited about our invite for tea at One Aldwych – indulging into exquisite sweets is very much on St. Nicholas’s remit !

What else are we up to this month? We started December with a long weekend in Essaouira to recharge vitamin D; we have an invite for the 4 of us for the first time at the Snowman (last year invite in 2 in here); plans to go back again iceskating at the Historical Palaces where we opened the season; the Victorian Santa Grotto from Museum of London and of course Carols at Royal Albert Hall.

For London in December with kids and parents keen on culture not Christmas related, there’s also tones!

*For opera lovers, dancers and and arts and crafts, we absolutely loved The Family Sundays at the Royal Opera house. December event has now limited tickets if you miss out check their 2020 family days! We crafted puppets, made cards, dressed up with gorgeous stage costumes, we sang an opera chorus, danced, conducted, wined and dined. Can’t recommend warmly enough! And for a thought provoking innovative opera like you haven’t seen before, look no further than The Lost Thing. Our dedicated article in here, we can’t rave about this one enough.

* For contemporary art and classics head to Tate; they host regularly workshops at weekends and some great exhibitions. No doubt all Year 3 London parents checked out their kids at Steve Mcqueen Portrait of London. 76,000 London school children is one of the most ambitious portraits of citizenship ever taken and a sweet snapshot of the generation to come, in its journey to adolescence and adulthood. We are not Year 3 parents or pupils just yet, but had to check ourselves this huge delightful project.

*For scientific minds and space explorers, there’s Moving to Mars at Design Museum. Explore the surface of the Red planet like you haven’t tried before, from floors designed to its grounds ressamblance to huge screens, to astronauts gear and spacecrafts. There’s lots for kids including lego play, a rocket to be climbed and tested, sand to be touched etc. Our 6 and 3 years olds were smitten. Hugely inspirational, humbling and popular, expect queues on weekends and leaving head in the intergalactic clouds.

*For history lovers, there’s Tutankhamun at Saatchi galleries, some seriously ancient Egyptian treats.

*For wildlife lovers, head to SeaLife London Aquarium to join Ziggy the Penguin in his presents pursuit – a cool and educational dayout!

My lovely co-host Megan at Truly Madly Kids and I loved reading all the link ups from last month and our favourites were have been An Inclusive Experience – Circus Starr and Monaco Grand Prix with a Baby. Congrats !
