Luxurious heaven at sea level by Elounda Beach

Indulgent hideaway in a fabulous location, Elounda Beach Hotel and Villas pampered us to perfection for our 5 days stay, an epic ending of a much-needed holiday following 2020 epic developments. Luxury villas Elounda with kids (or without) do not get any better and options range from delux rooms to fabulous seafront suites; the food is fantastic and water sports so diverse. We found our Ambassador Seafront Villa very close to Maldives and Seychelles experiences in so many dazzling ways.

We discovered Elounda 15 years ago – one of Greece’s most exclusive and chic destinations nowadays, historically a down to earth charming fishing village.

Why did we decide to go back this year toย Crete again and to Eloundaโ€™s crystal turquoise Mediterranean waters with majestic rugged mountains as bakdrop ? 2020 has been a roller-coaster year for many of us and luxury villas Elounda Beach Hotel were the much needed treat, private and sophisticated, promising fun and zen.

And why Elounda Beach Hotel ranks so highly on our holidays dreamlike experiences?

1.Location, location, location

Elounda Beach Hotel overlooks the beautiful Bay of Mirabello and their private sandy beach is 1min walk from the seafront suites. Our Ambassador suite/ villa also meant swimming by moonlight, having the sea to ourselves for snorkelling most of the time and constantly treating our eyes to the therapeutical Mediterranean shades of blue and green. We loved the sunrise and the moonrise from our huge terrace, the decadent late lunches and simply relaxing and enjoying the high-tech features.

We had a boat ride to explore the peninsula and loved seeing Spinalonga close by. An adventurous self-drive with 3 kids on board, but they loved sightseeing and sailing. The pretty harbour of Agios Nikolaos is also 10 minutes taxi ride, but we find it difficult those 5 days to go back to and leave the hotel (apart from the regular sailing, snorkelling and diving).

2. The most fabulous luxury villas Elounda

Our Ambassador Suite certainly had the Wow-est factor we experienced in a long time. We raved about its seafront private location above, the high-tech specs were way beyond our expectations. From our own jacuzzi and steam room, to sliding glass doors and smart curtains, to Bulgari toiletries and Japanese toilet, to the intelligent bed mattress that changes the shape.

The design is classic and elegant, The Leading World Hotels beautifully blending with the colours of the Aegean Sea. We adored the little touches like fresh roses in our living and huge bathroom, candles everywhere, the fruit basket and welcome wine.

3. The food, glorious food

Serious foodies will not have any troubles in here and we all LOVED the food. Breakfasts at Artemis felt like a treat, from shady arches overlooking the Aegean. We thoroughly indulged into freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juices, fresh pastries, pancakes and fruit platters. There is also a good selection of specials cooked to order and the avocado salmon and Greek omelette were a hit.

Dionysos is one of the finest restaurants in Crete and we enjoyed so much the village setting by the chapel and carob trees. The amuse-bouches, seabass tartar and cod with beetroot risotto were the highlights in here. The wine selection is superb, and we explored some remarkable Cretan white wines.

The Argonaut has Italian and sushi in a magical setting overlooking Veghera lounge and the sea and the 6 years old was super thrilled with their sushi and prawn tempura. There’s also the Greek restaurant and the room service to mention just 2 other options – we regularly indulged into grilled octopus and mussels in the privacy of our seafront huge terrace.

4. The private beaches, 2 of the finest we have seen in many years of travelling to Crete and the Aegean, an embankment of the Mediterranean.

Our kids love socialising and playing with buckets, spades and trucks and the beach has plenty of toys for its guests. Hours of running around, snorkelling and diving merrily, only interrupted by the playground sessions 1 min away in shady gardens or crazy sofa and pedalo activities.

There were some serious sandcastle building efforts with French, Italian, English and Swiss friends – elaborate creations with private pools,ย  moats and tunnels. So having a sandy beach 1 minute away from our villa was absolute bliss for the youngsters. There are also tones of swimming and snorkelling space round the corner of Veghera, with rocks and lots of fish.

5. The Watersports.

Just by the beach and 2min away from our villa, the Happy Divers are a dream to dive with. The team is super helpful and fun and we had a glorious dive seeing a huge school of juvenile barracudas, huge groupers, 3 lion fishes and 1 octopus. Our first dive in the Mediterranean in 15 years of solid diving exotic territories did not disappoint!

6. Crete and Mediterranean village vibes.

Wondering around extravagant fuchsia flowers, cactuses, and carob trees on cobbled alleys with the Aegean background feelt so dreamy and capturing the quintessence of the Greek summer.

The village in the middle of Elounda Beach Hotel and Villas with the chapel, tasteful boutique shops and taverna is super cute and the kids loved exploring it.

7. The service

The service has been impeccable and warm: from the lovely staff at breakfast, to beach dining and the Veghera lounge, to watersports and reception ladies – you get to be treated like a royalty and get to feel part of the Leading Hotels of the World wonderful family.

8. World leading wellness centre & spa

The spa Espace Vitalite Chenot is wonderful but somehow between the tones of peace and zen from diving, our own jacuzzi and steam room, snorkelling, and swimming was not needed on this occasion. On my list for the future visits though for sure!

9. The kidsclub and extensive junior facilities

The kidsclub is great and was super accommodating with our cheeky monkeys and their friends, all activities outdoors, by the beach, sea and playground. The pool looked also lovely but with such wonderful beach and coast we also did not get the chance to try.

Covid 19 adjustments: In the brave new world of 2020, Elounda Beach Hotel and Villas opened its doors for the summer season since July 3rd. We found them well versed in keeping us all safe and healthy whilst not compromising on warm and super professional service. All staff are wearing masks or transparent shields, thereโ€™s electrostatic sprayers and vapour steam cleaners to keep the premises virus free plus training for all personnel, QR code menus everywhere. And as the accommodation options are super spacious and water options so vast is super easy to distance from other guests as much as you wish. Luxury in your own private sanctuary in here is effortless and superb.

As the first hotel on Creteโ€™s northeast coast, the resort has been ranking for years one of Greece finest.ย  And we totally succumbed to its timeless charm.

Impeccable Leading Hotels of the World style meets timeless classic, Crete and blends so well with Mediterranean exquisite village vibes.

The hotel heritage and style grew on us al right from the beginning, whilst the waterfront villas are state of art and super sleek, truly a heaven at sea level. For further Greek island adventures, head to our Santorini blissful stay with Aqua Luxury Suites – 1.5 hours by ferry from Heraklion harbour; vibrant Paros in here and hedonistic Mykonos in here.
