We had many awesome activities on our stay with Angsana Velavaru, but the sunset cruise Maldives came second to none. As most of you know by now, we love sailing with kids or without as well as diving, snorkeling and observing. We were very fortunate for our special hosts; it became also a dolphin cruise Maldives and a lifetime exhilarating experience.
As advanced divers and lovers of marine life, I wrote quite a bit about swimming with dolphins, sharks and turtles in the wild, diving with or just observing them. And we have been on quite a few day trips and sailing days, including Dalaman Coast with Hillside Club, Menorca in Spain, Tremitti islands and Procida in Italy, Grenadines, Malta, Kangaroo island, Fiji and Seychelles. But the dolphin cruise in Maldives takes a very special place in our hearts.
Sunset dolphin cruise Maldives
We left Angsana Velavaru by 5pm after a day with mixed weather. The ocean on the day was rather agitated but we were on the right sized yacht and with the right sailing team.
Banyan Tree boat is sleek and elegant inside out. And canapés and bubbles were served as soon as we started sailing. Our 4.5 years old noted shortly that the captain and his team were cool, welcoming and impeccably dressed. Our son got to sail and drive, discover uninhabited islands with and without binoculars and talked lots of dolphin stories. He loved the dolphins before the trip but ever since the dolphin cruise Maldives, he became the sweetest tiniest defender – painfully aware humans don’t always treat them right.
The dolphins showed up 20min into our trip – I would say easily 200, playful and keen on company. They hanged around with us for over an hour! Pure joy and delight, a 1 min Youtube sunset dolphin cruise taster in here.
And our 4 years old got beyond excited! Banyan Tree and Angsana staff took the opportunity to talk him through their habits andhistory. And after a while, our boy ended up sitting inside and talking some more with Banyan Tree team, leaving the adults to enjoy the most romantic sunset sailing, delicate canapés and bubbles.
Indian Ocean and dolphins, exotic tales and lovely people, millions of shades of blue in the sea and the sky on fire – life does not get better than a sunset cruise Maldives!
