Travelling with a baby

Cornwall with a baby. Summer skies are wide and life is a beach.

Cornwall with a baby: Convenience, stunning landscapes and ability to stuff the car with lots of baby items and just drive. Bit of a gamble on the English weather but if you spend a week the odds are getting at least a couple of sunny days.

Some good choices of rental flats, cottages and holiday houses on TripAdvisor.

We’ve been pre baby, stayed in Bodmin and loved travelling around, ticked off Tintagel, the castle and its ruins by the coast are spectacular, very much enjoyed Padstow and Mr Stein cuisine and spent some time in a rain battled beautiful Lowe.

So this time around baby included, we settled for a modern and lovely 2 bedrooms flat by the sea featuring great sunsets, terrace with a barbecue, sleek kitchen and lots of baby/ toddler accesories, 10 min drive from St Ives. Ocean view beach house

Trips around & restaurants: We spent lots of mornings just driving to St Ives, walking around the cobbled streets and white houses, enjoying white sand beaches and crystal waters when the sun was out, charming cafes and delis.

Porthminster and Porthmeor beaches were our favorites and our 8 months baby walking around in his harness and already socialising with other little friends.

Porthmeor beach cafe restaurant been by far our favourite, so we spent few nice lunches, parents chatting over cocktails whilst baby napping and family feast when he was awake – he loved their pollock and the vegetables.

A couple of days we felt more adventurous and drove to longer destinations, one particularly beautiful site being Kynance Cove and the other iconic one St Michaels Mountain.  As long as you feel relatively fit and comfortable with a baby in a sling for a couple of hours, both warmly recommended.

St Michaels Mountain also has a gastro pub with great views and fun scenes at flux/reflux – boats and pedestrians alike plus a playground relatively close.

Kynance Cove ‘s beaches are a bit more difficult in terms of access and food is bland plus there’s no beer or cidre at the National Trust cafe – Kynance Cove Cafe but the views and scenery in a nice weather are truly spectacular.

A bit closer to the house /our temporary pied a terre, Godrevy coast also very beautiful with a cute pub cafe – Godrevy cafe, serving basic but yum lunches and what it looked like good fun deli dinners.
