Sunset in Ibiza – where do we start?! Unmissable Balearic experience that over the years has evolved into a revered ritual: 20 years of pilgrimages on this magic island, girls trips, birthday parties, family treats, hen parties, opening and closing parties, we tested them all and keep coming back, one serious addition.
1. Bohemian vibes, nautical touches, sunbeds by its pebbled beach? Experimental makes a delightful sunset in Ibiza with cool DJs and exquisite dinners and cocktails over breezy shades of white and blue.
10minutes drive from the airport, also perfect if one lands late or needs to wrap up Ibiza early evenings (and 5 minutes drive from Ses Salines beach : Beso beach club , Jockey club and Sa Trinxa). Do not expect a full vista though for Ibiza sunsets: there is a reason why most of sunset chasers head to the west coast; but those who are in the know, love Experimental’s cocktails, crowds, DJs, Mediterranean cuisine and even the glimpse of iconic Es Vedra.
2. Fashionable spot with gorgeous views, sushi and tapas with a contemporary twist? Cotton Beach Club has it all, we believe one of the best sunset bars in Ibiza!
We tested with kids in tow, but best to be enjoyed for romantic dinners and friends drinks we reckon. Cala Tarida is also one of the loveliest sandy beaches, clear of seaweed and rocks. So one can pair with an afternoon by the beach and a swim; just bring some glam clothes to change after.
3. 7 Pines : unobstructed views of the Mediterranean Sea and the magical rocky island of Es Vedrà, this is one luxurious resort to witness memorable sunsets in Ibiza. At the Cone club the dinners are lush, contemporary Spanish food, the sunsets are fun; we were super lucky to have DJ Roger Sanchez and Danny Wade playing under the stars for us, we felt spoilt rotten.
This has been our fantastic base for our August 2024 family and friends holidays and has been difficult to leave! For dinners we loved their lobster tagliatelle, octopus and truffle potatoes, ceviche and braised king prawns; the kids also adored the Pershing Yacht sushi and pokes menu, whilst the View upstairs is Michelin star worthy.
4. Sunset Ashram: West island and just before San Antonio and its crowds, Cala Comta spoils with beautiful azure blue sea, perfect spot to swim until / by sunset; whilst Sunset Ashram treats with no-nonsense, fun DJs, eclectic crowd and fantastic sushi.
5. Hostal de la Torre : dinners are exquisite or simply cocktails by the balcony – their expresso martinis are lush!
Perfect to pair with Cala Gracioneta for cute chiringuitos lovers: some great late lunches with fresh fish and salads or just fab cocktails and a dip; Hostal de la Torre is a mere 10-15 minutes walk, so even feasible if you don’t rent a car or scooter and feasible without a taxi. For dinner we indulged in padron peppers, octopus, gorgonzola croquettes and tomato salad; if one is just after a drink, head to Hostal first floor for one cool, chilled great sunset bars in Ibiza.
6. Hacienda Na Xamena in the North for dramatic shore, spa with hanging pools and thermal waters, luxury, chill out and fine dining.
7. Also North but slightly further by crystal clue Cala Xarraca, Six Senses dazzles on many levels, food, parties and sunsets included; one meaningful setting for deep spiritual experiences rooted in the Ibizan culture, celebrating music, art, sustainable fashion and wellness.
8. Cala d’Hort for magic Es Vedra : looming eerily off the south coast, an islet much talked about it: the third most magnetic place on Earth, to the tip of the sunken city of Atlantis, to the island that inspired the Sirens from Homer’s Odyssey, we love its sight and urban myths. Make a wish and hug your friends, it makes one memorable Ibiza sunset.
9&10. Mambo and/ or Cafe del Mar – 2 institutions over the years for San Antonio crowd lovers. Many also come together along the long coastal strip to enjoy Ibiza sunset from a bench or the rocks but Café Mambo and Café Del Mar are the 2 most popular spots, DJ’s playing, crowds clapping.
11&12. Not keen on another taxi trip between beach parties or lush lunches ? Fear not, with friends we’ve seen over the years Blue Marlin or Yemanje or our home away from home Destino Pacha, would do!
13. But some of the best sunsets in Ibiza are on boats and our 2024 trip to Es Vedra spoiled with great snorkelling, swimming, exploring caves, pools and the Atlantis beach (Sa Pedrera de Cala d’Hort original/ local name) as well as a wonderful sundown. JuanPe, our Ibizan skipper from Ibiza Viking Boats is in the know and great fun, we are all planning to return!
